a music performance about failing love
after *love fail* by David Lang
#tristanisolde is a music performance about the timelessness of love and its shortcomings. The US composer David Lang (Pulitzer Prize 2008) delved into the legend of Tristan and Isolde to create *love fail*, a modern oratorio connecting the ancient story with the world of today. Lang compiled the libretto from a multitude of sources, from Medieval poetry to contemporary stories by Lydia Davis.
Inspired in turn by David Lang's composition, Isabel Schröder has created a mise en espace in which parallel realities overlap: actuality and myth, the present and the remembered.
The performance will be followed by an after-show programme. Silbersee asked three teams of makers / performers to draw inspiration from the story of Tristan and Isolde. They will present their own interpretation of the legend.
